The results of the AHI chart are puzzling - NationalRambo - 11-07-2024

I am a new user and have been using a CPAP machine for 4 nights. I am puzzled by the AHI table showing maximum disturbances at almost the same time and for almost the same duration, about an hour, every night. What could be causing this?

I will provide information for each of the four nights with pictures.

First, please format your charts according to the instructions in the link in my signature “Formatting OSCAR Charts”. Second, please do not change the text color from the detail as using a lighter color text is unreadable to some of us without changing it first.

As to why the same hypopnoea at 04:30? Could be anything. Based on the rest of the chart I would ignore it. Once you re-post the charts folks can see more data that may help figure it out.

I have now adjusted everything according to the instructions, but I can’t fit the ‘snoring’ section on the same screen with a 1080p 15.4” display, so it is left out. I am now adding 4 new pictures (the AHI section is not visible now). I am just puzzled as to how there could be problems at about the same time and for about an hour every night.

Thanks for the formatting!

There is nothing going on from a chart perspective at that time, so what in your environment happens around that time? Trains? Planes? Roomba? HVAC? Something disturbing your sleep at that time?

As I said, it could be anything but I expect it is external to the machine.

There are planes flying at night, but not at that specific time. We don’t have a robot vacuum cleaner, and for example, last night the air conditioning was not on at all. There are no trains nearby. Since the line continues horizontally for an hour and is at the very top, does it really mean that my sleep is disturbed for about an hour and seriously?

It means that your sleep may be slightly disturbed for about 10 seconds. Given how quickly it goes back to sleep breathing I do not see anything of concern.

Really good to hear. I’m just puzzled as to why it shows disturbances for about an entire hour.

To what disturbances are you referring? The slight spikes? Nothing to be concerned with there.

Your charts are quite good, nothing I would consider changing at the moment.

The rise in the AHI area in the early morning (from which I posted three pictures in my first message) always happens around the same time and lasts for about an hour. The AHI line rises vertically to the maximum and goes horizontally for an hour before it drops again.

That is just an artifact of how the AHI is displayed on the graph. There is nothing there.
