Schnoozer - Therapy thread - Schnoozer - 11-09-2024

Hi all -

I'm just over 2 weeks in and, generally speaking, the therapy is going well. I am slowly getting the hang of OSCAR and getting used to everything, but still trying to dial things in.

The good news:
  • I am generally able to sleep through the night with the p30i mask, and AHI's have been low which is already giving me a huge benefit. I'm more rested than I have been in 20 years!!
  • I found that the humidifier somehow made me more congested, so I've got it turned off for now and doing fine.
Remaining challenges:
  • Leaks! I still seem to have quite a bit of leaking, and although it's usually (but not always) below the threshhold of large leaks, I keep thinking it's interrupting my sleep. Last night was a good night but even last night I recall at least a couple of times hearing a hissing sound and fussing with the mask to seal it up.
  • Still tweaking the pressure. I posted a couple of other threads before I saw that it's best to have a 'therapy thread' (sorry about that) and learned that my min. pressure could be too low. Upping it to 6.8 took way that sawtooth pattern, and I might raise it a bit more. But, more pressure seems to lead to more leaks.
  • Travel: I have a ton of travel coming up so I ordered the AirMiini to test it out. It's quieter than I thought, but somehow it makes the mask very loud and the only one that was reasonable was the P10 - but it's so tight an uncomfortable I'm not sure I can do it!
  • Still trying to figure out if zero-humidity is the right thing for me, and for the first time I was doing a Neti and saw a tiny amount of blood come out, like a 'pre nose-beed'. But, I think this might be due to the Astepro, which i'm trying out instead of the Flonase and appears to cause occasional nosebleeds. I'm going to go back to Flonase and that might solve this.
  • Mild but annoying irritation to nostrils in the AM, not helped by lanolin. Nasal gel/Ayr seems to help but not much.
I have been working with Lofta and they have been wildly supportive in trying different masks. I still like the p30i most, but also trying the P10, the F&P Solo with cushions (they sent pillows for me to try, coming soon). My hope is to find a mask that is quiet with the mini and I can get used to.

I will post last nights chart. Right now, what's on my mind is (1) reducing leaks and (2) figuring out a mask that is quiet with the AirMini 'cause the p30i is definitely not gonna cut it.

Interesting results this morning.  I could use an outside opinion if anyone could chime in:

I am trying to get used to a P10 mask so i can use with the AirMini. The p30i that I usually use is too noisy with the Mini (terribly so). I like the p30i, it's stays put and is comfortable, but the P10 feels a little tight and I am still needing to adjust it, etc.  to keep in in place.

For 2 nights now, i've started with the P10 but woken during the night, taken it off, and switched to the p30i. Last night i fell asleep for a while between them, but the results were similar:

It looks to me like I have less leak with the P10 (first section of data) than the p30i (second section), and that my sleep was slightly more stable with fewer events, etc.  Could this mean that the P30 might actually work better for me, I just need to get used to it?

Also interesting was that there was an OA event at 3am, but there was no FL in advance of it, or at all really. Just a tiny period of slight snoring. Wouldnt a OA correspond to FL increase?

Anyways, any input much appreciated!
