Diagnosis help and where to go from there - SadAstronaut - 11-15-2024

Hi all.

Recently got the results of my sleep study and I'm a bit overwhelmed by everything I've read online. Sorry if this has been answered many times, but I would really appreciate some opinion on my case directly before I start investing large amounts of money into this. I am alone on this journey, as in France treatments are only given for an AHI >15.

I took a benzo for the study (only use them as needed for insomnias). How big of an impact it could have had on the results?

AHI : 8
RDI : 14

Time in bed : 7h19min
Total sleep time : 5h22min
Total microarousals : 147 (27/h)
Arousals >30sec : 13 (1h57min)

Hypopneas :  -37 total (7/h), all obstructives

Saturation :
-min 92%
-average 95%
-when awake 97%
-13 desaturations (2/h)

Periodic limbs movement during sleep : 19 (4/h)

Can provide more data if necessary but I think that’s all that’s relevant

From what I understand, my results look more like UARS. What are the next steps I should take? (Again, no sleep doctors will help me with those numbers.)

Which machines would you recommend I try?

Thanks a lot in advance

AirSense 10 Auto is one of the most reliable instruments for basic needs like yours for a reasonable price.

If you are paying out of pocket and can find the funds, get a bilevel like the ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto or a Lowenstein equivalent. If not, then a standard APAP like the ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset or Lowenstein equivalent would do to get started. Nothing wrong with a gently used machine as well.

Thank you guys a lot.

I have funds, I'm lucky on that side, and given the severity of my symptoms I'm willing to get what's best.

Are masks only down to personnal choices or are there guidelines depending on which type of sleep disturbances we have?
