F12 Screenshot not working - ljensen51 - 12-09-2024 Hello, I'm running Oscar 1.5.3 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and am trying to get a screenshot, but when I press F12 (or click the menu item in View), the dialog pops up, I click Save but the file does not appear in the specified output folder. If I try again with the Debug Pane turned on, Debug says, e.g., "Saving screenshot to "/home/[myfolder]/Pictures/screenshot-20241209-130223.png"". I tried going to Preferences and on the General tab changing Graphics Engine from Desktop OpenGL to Software Engine, but this doesn't work either. I've searched this forum and read "OSCAR Chart Organization" on the OSCAR Wiki, but have not yet found a way to get it working. Any thoughts? RE: F12 Screenshot not working - Crimson Nape - 12-09-2024 Try looking in your /home/[myfolder]//Documents/OSCAR_Data/Screenshots. - Red RE: F12 Screenshot not working - ljensen51 - 12-09-2024 Thanks for the speedy response! But no, it's not there either. RE: F12 Screenshot not working - Crimson Nape - 12-09-2024 Try going to File > Preferences > General > General Settings. Select the checkbox, "Always save screenshots in the OSCAR Data folder". Save your settings and restart OSCAR. Try taking a screenshot. You can also use View > Take Screenshot. - Red RE: F12 Screenshot not working - ljensen51 - 12-09-2024 I tried that yesterday, and it created a Screenshots folder in the OSCAR_data folder, but it doesn't put the screenshot into it. I just tried it again now, and it's still not saving the screenshot file there. RE: F12 Screenshot not working - Crimson Nape - 12-09-2024 Seeing that you are running Ubuntu24, was this a fresh install or an upgrade? Also, was OSCAR 1.5.3 a fresh install or an upgrade? - Red RE: F12 Screenshot not working - ljensen51 - 12-09-2024 My computer is a Dell Latitude 7390 laptop that I bought used on Amazon in November 2022. I put Ubuntu on it right away which was probably 22.04 LTS. Since 24.04 LTS didn't come out until this year, it's definitely been upgraded. Honestly, I don't recall whether I did an in-place upgrade or a fresh install. I suspect I did a fresh install, because I initially had it configured to dual boot between Windows 10 Pro and Ubuntu; however when I installed Ubuntu 24.04 I got rid of Windows 10 Pro entirely. As for OSCAR, I have a note that in March 2024 I purged OSCAR 1.5.1-Ubuntu22 and installed OSCAR 1.5.2-Ubuntu22. It is now running 1.5.3 and "Automatically check for updates" is checked, but I don't know whether I had to approve the upgrade or if it just did it 'invisibly'. I hope this helps. RE: F12 Screenshot not working - Crimson Nape - 12-09-2024 OIK, you might wish to purge the current copy of OSCAR (sudo apt purge oscar) and then try installing the Ubuntu 22 version of OSCAR 1.5.3. A lot of times old support files are held back, and using the prior version may correct this. - Red RE: F12 Screenshot not working - ljensen51 - 12-09-2024 Ok, thanks. I'll give that a try. RE: F12 Screenshot not working - ljensen51 - 12-10-2024 Ok, this morning I purged my OSCAR installation, downloaded oscar_1.5.3-Ubuntu22_amd64.deb from sleepfiles.com, and installed it. I am still not able to get a screenshot. Sorry! |
