New to OSCAR - billp0527 - 12-28-2024

Im new to OSCAR and just recently switched from a Dreamstation II to a ResMed AirSense 11. Noticing some differences is how the pressure feels, seems I am getting less than the Dreamstation II. Have been using CPAP's for almost 20 years, originally diagnosed with severe sleep apnea.

I believe the AirSense is set up with default pressure settings and i would like to dial it in to be more efficient. Any suggestions

Your AHI is pretty good although, I would suggest a minimum of 9cm to start and a maximum of 16cm.  Your pressure is averaging almost 10cm now so 9cm should be a good starting point.  I would think that after all your CPAP use that you could turn off the ramp.  When it is on you receive almost no benefit from the 4cm of pressure. Try the new settings then post a few more OSCAR charts.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your treatment.

Thanks. I updated the settings this afternoon pressure 9-16 and turned off ramp,

Will see if that improves things tonight

After adjusting pressure and turning off ramp. Felt a lot better.

It appears that you are going in the right direction, you may still need some pressure increases to perhaps 10cm.  Also, try to lower your leaks, they are not terrible, but if you will notice almost all of your leak spikes mirror arousals.  Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Good luck with your treatment.  Give it a few more days then post some more charts.

Will try and get the leaks down. i think I need to adjust the mask at the new minimum level, last adjsutment was at the old minimum 4.

Leaks are down a little. i think it happens when I switch from side to back and then to the other side. I think my chart my chart from last night is displaying the way is is because I have beeen having problems seating the water tanks and I turned it on when i refiled the tank to make sure it was seated correctly. Took a couple of attempts to get it seated

You appear to still be having quite a few arousals.  Have you ever tried running in CPAP only mode?  If not it might be worth a try as it sometimes helps with arousals as it stops your pressure from running up and down all the time.  Actually, this is the way I run my CPAP.  Try the following settings for a few nights and see if it helps.  I would leave your pressure at 10cm and EPR set at 3 full time in "CPAP" mode.  If it doesn't work for you just go back to APAP.

Good luck.

What is an acceptable number of arousals? Will try changing the mode with settings you suggested.
