Hi Folks,

Just a heads up for our Members... after our staff discussions on posting information about "good deals" that a particular DME is offering, we've come up with a solution for how to handle these types of situations in the future.

I posted the solution (here) in the thread that started this discussion... Here's the quote from that thread:

After discussion in our Monitors Forum, we've come up with a kind of consensus for how to handle these types of situations in the future. No rules addition needs to be made, because this is simply a clarification of Moderator Policies.

Here it is:

1. If a member mentions "a good deal at Supplier #x" as a single reply in a pre-existing thread in the public forums, then we let it stand as-is, as long as it relates to the subject matter being discussed in the thread and appears to be helpful to a specific member who posted in the thread. Posting like this that becomes excessive or disruptive will be deleted.

2. If a member starts a new thread, where the entire thread is promoting "a good deal at Supplier #x", it should be posted in the Commercial Posts Forum. If the new thread is posted in the Main Forum, Product Reviews Forum or Off-Topic Forum, moderators will move it to the Commercial Posts Forum. Posting like this that becomes excessive or disruptive will be deleted. Also, posting that appears to be an obvious advertisement posted by a DME entity will be removed.

Keep in mind, however, that when referring to Durable Medical Equipment Suppliers (DMEs), we never allow direct links to those commercial websites - the best policy is to refer to a specific supplier number from our CPAP Supplier List (link at top right of every forum page).

Hopefully this will allow folks to help others, while also maintaining the educational status of of the forum.
