Trending Oximeters? - Brewskie - 09-28-2014 I've been hunting around for an oximeter that I can download the daily results into software that allows me to keep tabs on my progress. I bought the CMS50D+ thinking since it records it must do what I'm wanting. But the recording is mostly for sleep studies, which is what I have been using it for. What I need is an oximeter that puts a time stamp on each reading. This way the software can create the appropriate graphs etc. I've found the Onyx II 9560 and I think it will do what I need but it's way too expensive for me at this time. Does anyone know of a less expensive oximeter that has trending software? Thanks in advance! B RE: Trending Oximeters? - PaulaO2 - 09-28-2014 What do you mean by a time stamp on each reading? You mean each event? RE: Trending Oximeters? - Brewskie - 09-28-2014 I mean like my blood pressure monitor does. It stores each reading into memory then I download the data into the OmRon software to track X number of days/months. I'd like to do the some with an oximeter, but none that I've found specifically says it will track the trends in that way. As it is now, I have to use graph paper and hand create the graph. RE: Trending Oximeters? - PaulaO2 - 09-28-2014 Oh, duh. I see. SleepyHead does this. first: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=SpO2_software then: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Importing_CMS_50D_Plus_oximeter_data_into_SleepyHead If you don't want it messing up your S9 data while you figure it all out, just create a new profile. Or use a spreadsheet vs graph paper. The spreadsheet data can be output into a graph. I do this with OpenOffice quite often. RE: Trending Oximeters? - Brewskie - 09-28-2014 I'm sorry PaulaO2. I'm talking about an oximeter that would act as a blood pressure monitor but also allow it to do home sleep study. It doesn't have to do the sleep study but that would allow me to need only one oximeter. RE: Trending Oximeters? - PaulaO2 - 09-28-2014 Let me make sure I properly understand you. You want a gadget that is: part oximeter part blood pressure monitor keeps track of data for you Correct? An oximeter needs a certain area of skin in order to properly read the blood oxygen sat rate. Which is why the finger tip is used. It uses light to see through the skin and read the blood vessels between it and the bone. I would imagine anything that can do it otherwise is going to be expensive. A blood pressure monitor needs a totally different type of body location. They have some now for the wrist but they aren't that accurate and are only used for general checks, not for when it really matters. Heck, digital spygnowhatsits have only been reliable for a short while now. Omron leads the way on those. But I must be wrong because that Onyx you referenced does not do blood pressure. It only tracks SpO2 rate. RE: Trending Oximeters? - Brewskie - 09-28-2014 An oximeter that does spot checking is what I'm talking about, if that helps I mean, they all do spot checking, but I'm looking for one that will also download the data. RE: Trending Oximeters? - PaulaO2 - 09-28-2014 Okay, did some Googling. There are a few units that can track both. They have a hose/cord with the finger unit for the oximeter part. However, they cost well over $1000. Contec 08-A. But it does not do overnight or extended. Just glances. $100-300 RE: Trending Oximeters? - Brewskie - 09-28-2014 I think the OnyxII 9560 will do spot checking. Their web page says it will do a minimum of 20....I think that's what they're talking about. The OnyxII 9560 is very expensive too....a few hundred dollars. I'm looking to find a less expensive unit. This unit records SPO2 data to a folder on your PC. The software allows you to see a trace on the screen showing PR, plus SPO2 data on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis. A separate file is created for each session which can be overnight or any length of time. Detailed reports can be printed off to take to your sleep doc too. I can recommend [link removed by moderator] as I've used mine for many years. The created file is in spo format which can be read by Sleepyhead. - Cost US$60. -----
