Link for Zonk - PaytonA - 06-16-2015 I am posting this to post a link for Zonk since I can't seem to find my way back to the thread where it came up. The question had to do with the calculation of unintentional leak rate calculation for Resmed machines. The link is http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-A-note-on-unintentional-leak-determination-and-mask-type?pid=92799#pid92799 Best Regards, PaytonA RE: Link for Zonk - Lazer1234 - 06-16-2015 http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-Leak-Rate-Calculation RE: Link for Zonk - zonk - 06-16-2015 (06-16-2015, 05:09 PM)Lazer1234 Wrote: http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-Leak-Rate-CalculationAlso from: ResScan Report Interpretation Guide http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-How-to-ResScan-CPAP-Reporting-Software-current-version-5-4?pid=397#pid397 Leak: An estimate of the total flow of air escaping due to mouth and mask leaks. It is derived by analyzing the inspiratory and expiratory airflows, together with the expected mask vent flows. High or changing leak rates may affect the accuracy of other measurements. Actually other measurements may affect the leak rate. If you look closely at the short spikes in your leak rate and look at the flow rate for the exact same time many of the leak spikes will have a corresponding flow rate spike. The statement, "It is derived by analyzing the inspiratory and expiratory airflows, together with the expected mask vent flows." seems bogus to me. If you use the expected vent rate and the actual flow rate (measured) that would be all of the data you would need to do a quick subtraction to calculate the leak rate. You would not need inspiratory and expiratory airflows. The machine has a very accurate flow measurement. Now if there was a very accurate measure of the intentional leak, we would get a very accurate unintentional leak rate but that is not the case. Payton, You probably already know this but you can find a link of your posts in your profile page. http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/User-PaytonA This lists all the posts you made: http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/search.php?action=finduser&uid=18430 If you already knew that then maybe it will help someone else. I've used it a lot since my memory stinks. RE: Link for Zonk - quiescence at last - 06-17-2015 (06-17-2015, 06:47 AM)AlanE Wrote: I've used it a lot since my memory stinks. me too, bud. QAL |
