RE: How long can prescription for CPAP machine be?

Call your doctor's office and get another prescription. Since they wrote you one for life they should be able to write you another one!
I live in a large metropolitan area and have dealt with two large DME's. My insurance plan is a large one, covering a large category of state employees. One DME wants a new prescription every year, the other wants only the original and doesn't care about annual renewals. It's all in the way they interpret the insurance company's policies, and the state's laws.
The whole system is dysfunctional in many ways.
Insurance companies will pay for more supplies than you need. In one year you can get enough supplies to last you for several years. The DME that doesn't require annual prescription renewals will give me a year's supply all in one order, the other makes me place four orders, one every ninety days.
