RE: 1st Night Using CPAP
You had a lot of centrals.  We suggested to set the trigger to very high - it is set to med.  The trigger setting to very high will help with the centrals.  Your mode is till set to cpap not vauto, please set the mode to vauto.

settings needed
mode vauto
Min 4
max 11
ps 4
Trigger very high

RE: 1st Night Using CPAP
As an addendum, this machine is an AirCurve10 VAuto. The only treatment options available are VAuto, S, and CPAP.
In the CPAP mode, there is NO option to adjust Triggering and Cycling.

Maybe I'm using the wrong therapy protocol?

Many thanks Stacey! Looks like I'm using the wrong treatment protocol. I will follow your instructions and report back.

Hi Stacey, here are my latest stats from last night, with the suggested therapy mode of VAuto and settings.

Your, and the groups comments are welcomed. I'm old and slow, but persistent Big Grin

RE: 1st Night Using CPAP
Everything looks better.  You did have one grouped O events when you first went to sleep.  That might be positional apnea. That is when you sleep in a position that cuts off your  own airway.  Back sleeping can cause it or just dropping your chin to your sternum cutting off your own airway.  Don't worry about on small set of events of positional apnea but keep your eye on it in OSCAR.   IF you get more and it happens several times at night you will need to look into using a collar to keep your chin up.

2nd Night Using VAuto BIPAP
Thanks to Stacey for some great advice RE: machine mode and settings.

1st night was encouraging:

Last night, meh:

I am waking up approximately 4 hours into treatment, and cannot return to sleep. FWIW, I have nocturia, which has improved significantly since beginning BIPAP therapy. On the advice of my cardiologist, I started logging my blood pressures, and discovered I'm waking up with higher than (MY) normal BP's. She prescribed a low-dose ARB 1st, (1x daily with no significant improvement) than a Beta Blocker 2x daily, one mid-day, and one before bed. While waiting for a full polysomnography, I started using a ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto out of desperation, to try for some better nights rest.

On the positive side, I do feel better, rest-wise, but feel I should be sleeping more. There are certainly better heads than mine in this forum, and I would very much appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Thank you for your help Stacey!

I'm on night #2 with the VAuto BIPAP, created a separate thread with charts, and added additional information.

RE: hamiltonrrwatch Therapy Thread Aircurve 10 Vauto
hamiltonrrwatch, I have merged your two threads concerning therapy with your Vauto. Please keep therapy threads in one place so the history and previous comments and recommendations can be viewed as a whole. Stacie has given good advise an your therapy is much better. Looks like your next step is to focus on some positional apnea issues. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph...onal_Apnea

RE: hamiltonrrwatch Therapy Thread Aircurve 10 Vauto
Thanks Sleeprider! Here are the results from my last nights therapy.

Your recommendation for my positional apnea's are much appreciated. Rather than using a soft cervical collar, I opted for a flatter pillow with less than half of the loft I was using previously.

A question to the group.

From the research I've done, people with high blood pressure issues, related to apnea, see better results using long-term CPAP/BIPAP therapy. Has anyone experienced this over the course of your therapy?

RE: hamiltonrrwatch Therapy Thread Aircurve 10 Vauto
Your pressure charts have settled back and flow limits are controlled. You made very good progress with the changes you elected to make. It's very hard to correlate BP changes to therapy, especially when medications are also used. It is common sense that it helps to have less respiratory resistance and the resulting physical stress and arousals during your sleep. Apnea and breathing disturbances are associated with adrenalin that affects your heart, blood pressure and soundness of sleep, and when apnea is controlled or resolved, sleep becomes a normal, more restful experience.
