2 1/2 hour MRI and sleep apnea

2 1/2 hour MRI and sleep apnea
I recently had to have a MRI of my upper spine which lasted 2 1/2 hours. I am fortunate to actually enjoy MRI's. I either think that I am in a SCI FI movie or at an early Pink Floyd concert. 2 1/2 hours is a long time so I did find myself dozing off and I am convinced that I caught myself having some hypopneas. Fortunately my head was locked in position so I did not have to redo it. I don't think that many people have MRI's that last this long so I don't think it's a problem in general. I am just commenting on my experience. Also when I was getting bored I would rolls my eyes around and watch all the floaters that I have in my eyes. It was like one of those glass christmas bulbs with snow in it. I get the results in about 2 weeks.

a regular MRI would catch only an OA, A flash-2 scan could possible catch hypo.

That was a long session. I had a couple that went a long time, but I never really knew how long. Lots of noises, and changing light. It gets more interesting if you have dye injected that feels like you just wet yourself.

I'm not claustrophobic but it seems there is always a long delay after all the noise stops and I always wonder if they've gone to lunch and forgotten
i was in there.

Never had that during any MRIs. I did have that dye when I had to have a cardiac CT scan early this year-ish. It also made me feel a bit warm and tingly. The nitro pills under the tongue just made it all the better. But at least the CT scan is quieter than MRIs.

It's OK ... that just means that the Wintel PC that controls the thing has crashed again and they're rebooting it.

Oh, BTW folks, when I last had an MRI, it was in prep for the Spinal Cord Stimulant trial. The technician asked me if I had made certain that I had placed my firearm in the locker with all my other metallic items. Now that has never been mentioned to me before. FWIW my carry weapon was in the car.

I fell asleep in a regular 45 minutes or so MRI this year. I can get my exhale breath blocked even when awake lying on my back with my mouth closed, and when I coudn't breathe I woke up with a slight jerk. I got a warning not to move--thankfully I didn't mess anything up.

I've fallen asleep during an MRI and snored. Kept jerking myself awake and they had to restart. Doesn't matter if my head was in a vice, when I jerk, everything moves.

How do they do MRI's on folks on ventilators in the ICU/HDU?

How can anyone fall asleep in an MRI? It's like being in a metal culvert being hammered with sledge hammers.
