RE: Preventing Rainout
I'm a new ResMed person, got the AirSense 11 AutoSet as a replacement for my recalled DreamStation.
I'm still (trying) to use the DreamWear Nasal Mask, but having problems with rainout that I never had with the DreamStation--I used heated tubing and fairly-high Temp (4 of 5) and Humidity (4 of 5) settings, the tube would feel a bit warm, and I never had rainout or water buildup in my mask.
With the AirSense 11, first night I used it, got a LOT of rainout--this was with the ClimateLineAir 11 heated tube, and Climate Control set to Auto, Tube Temp set to 86 degrees. One thing I noticed right off the bat, was that the tubing didn't feel warm--I assume it should?
I changed the Clinical Settings so that the Climate Control is set to Manual, Humidity to (started at 5, then lowered) 3, and left Tube Temp at 86 degrees. This alleviated a lot, but not all of the rainout, but also left me feeling dry in the morning (I use two Xylimelts in my mouth and chinstrap to ensure mouth stays closed, but my airway was feeling dry).
Not sure what else to do--I think I will get my DME to exchange the heated tubing, just to make sure it's working.
