How to prevent rainout?

I have an Airsense 11 with heated tube and am using the Respironics Dreamware nose cradle.

I switched from the F&P Vitera cause the rainout would wake me up in the middle of the night with a high-pitch noise in the exhaust. It's still doing it even with a different mask.

I have my heated tube set to 80 degrees and the humidity to auto (according to OSCAR it sets it at a 3).

Does the heated tube setting need to be the same temp as the room?

May want to try a hose cover too, and make sure that the hose doesn't droop (put the machine closer to the floor and get a hose hanger).

IMO it's not about the mask. Consider that water naturally flows down hill. If your machine is higher than your nose, the droplets will go downhill into your nose. You'll want the droplets to go uphill as they come out of the machine. There are various ways to do this, including placing the unit on a lower shelf, hanging the hose, etc.

You might want to post some Oscar charts here to have someone check your unit settings. They look like the defaults and might not be as helpful as they could be.

So I tried putting my machine in one of the drawers of my night stand (leaving it open, of course) and it seems to reduced the rain out significantly -- also I stopped using Automatic humidity and set it to 4 with a heat of 82 degrees. My machine probably needs to be a little bit lower because I'm still getting a small amount of moisture buildup , but not enough to wake me up anymore.

The hose holder and blanket will be here this week and will update then, will also post some OSCAR charts when I get home.

The only thing I can say about using a drawer...make sure the intake on the side of the unit has 2-3 inches of breathing room.
