Airfit P10 Vent

Airfit P10 Vent
Hi all.  New to CPAP and having issues with the "drowning in air" feeling.  I see it's a topic that's covered quite frequently and so I will be reading up on those threads.  Wanted to ask, however, about the location of the vent in the Resmed Airfit P10.  It's my understanding all masks vent somewhat to allow exhale.  I was unable to find any such vent on the P10.  Is it possible I have connected something incorrectly and am blocking it, which could contribute to the perception of being unable to exhale?  TYIA.

The venting is the fine mesh screen. The nasal pillow attaches to it.

When ever the machine is running you should feel some air escaping from the vent no matter what mask you use there should always be air venting at all times.

This.

When you exhale, you are actually backfeeding into the tubing, as the mask vents do not flow enough for a full exhale, however, if you notice, even when you are inhaling, the mask is still venting... the machine maintains roughly the same pressure, and it does this by adjusting the flow rate to compensate for inhaling and exhaling, so even though you exhale into the system, most of that is blown back out, so you do not build up excess CO2.

The P10 has a very large vented area, but the design reduces the noise and diffuses the venting so it does not feel like a lot of coming out.

RE: Airfit P10 Vent
Just a hint for people using the Airfit P10: It actually moves quite a lot of air, but it does so quietly so it's hard to be sure it's working.

I find that if I allow the P10 to vent onto the palm of my hand I don't feel much.

But if I hold the outside part of my forearm in front of my P10 I can easily feel two streams of air coming from the P10. My nerves on my forearm are much more sensitive.

Feeling this airflow should reassure people that their mask is working.

The perception of difficulty exhaling is common with p10.  I was using it for a week until last night when i switched to my swift fx mask. Night and day difference on the exhale.   P10 really makes it hard. I even cleaned it twice thinking it might be dirty....

I really like the weight and design of the p10...  but i use a bilevel and need the exhale support for comfort.
