And the answer may be
I tend to find lint in my mask almost every night (even with the cats exiled from the bedroom). I was pulling the mask loose enough to blow it out or let me reach in to remove it. That may be triggering the CPAP to determine I needed more pressure, so it increased. And then I increased. And it ping ponged a couple times.
My doc had me set it back to a straight 7 cm pressure. I tried really hard to make sure there was no lint, by keeping the mask and my face a bit moist to reduce static electricity which attracts fuzz quickly. This seems to be working!
And if I have a piece of lint again, I will turn the machine off, remove said lint, then turn it back on.
