Another small rant.

RE: Another small rant.
Capt. whatever you are picking up, will be prepared before you get there. Just call and ask what's in the box before you leave. If it doesn't meet your expectations, it's a lot easier to tell them by phone than to show up after a long trip and a lot of inconvenience.

Thank you for the advice. I did tell them on the phone specifically what I wanted. It sounded like she really did check stock on both items indicating that they had them in stock. So they know precisely what I wanted. We shall see and, knowing me as I do, I will get just what I want. LOL

My DME vendor at least doesn't require me to visit each time I need a new mask. So far I have only asked for one full face mask kit replacement, and several FFM cushions. They mailed them to me via USPS Priority Mail relatively quickly.

Every 6 months I can get a new mask. When the next 6 month window arrives I plan to ask for whatever the newest ResMed FFM is. Then another 6 months probably will ask for a nasal pillow mask. I'm hoping they don't suddenly require me to show up in person for it.

As far as I know the Airfit F20 is the latest FFM from Resmed. I have and have used both the F20 and the Simplus. I find that the F20 performs somewhat better for me than the Simplus but it took a little while and some fiddling to get it to where I was happy with it. One suggestion that I think is useful with the F20 is instead of just putting the mask on your face, put it on a little low and slide it up your nose until it stops then put the headgear over your head and fasten it.

Good Luck,

RE: Another small rant.
Well I picked up my new machine, mask and accessories today. Anyone one following this adventure knows that I called and verified that the
DME had, in stock, the specific machine (Resmed, system one, auto) and other items that I wanted.

You know it never turns out the way you want it to does it. The technician had pulled out a Resmed "dream machine" which I noticed on her table.
Before we went too far I relayed the story of my conversation with the person up front who made my appointment. She said that the model I wanted
was out dated and they would have to special order it.
So I told her that the person I talked to said they had exactly what I had specified in their "large" warehouse...said they had everything....Not. The
tech went and checked with that person and came saying that the person I talked to was....ah.."confused", and that they had no real time inventory
system that the person up front could have checked. A lie backed up by a falsehood. Why is this getting to be so common.
I was a bit ripped don't you know. After all the checking and verifying I did, it was all for naught. Me pirate blood boiled, then I
tacked hard and asked if she had my second machine choice in stock. She quickly said yes and went to get it and adjust the paperwork.
Well my new Resmed AirSense A10 is all set for my first night. A new machine and a new style of mask (Swift II nasal pillows)....we shall see.

All in all it turned out to be a fair morning with a just "okay" visit to this DME. It was certainly a better choice than the other option in our area. They were
very friendly and the technician was very professional and understanding at my frustration.

Don't look now, but you caused your own confusion. No such animal as a Resmed System One Auto.  That most closely approximates the discontinued Philips Respironics System One 60 Series auto (DS560HS) that has been replaced by the Dreamstation auto for over a year.

So she was giving you the updated version of what you requested.

It would pay to start referring to models correctly.  That is the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset (I think).  So what was it you actually wanted?   You never did say what make/model you wanted to pick up.

It's a good lesson for others.  You need to actually know the names of these models or everyone gets confused.  Happens on the forum all the time.  Lots of people think we know what they are talking about when the talk about an A10 or S10 or a Remstar.

Sadly, I am not at all surprised about your experience. I *love* to give people a chance, and it really is painful to see them *suck so bad* time and again.

I'm glad you got one you're hapoy with.

Don't forget to update your profile with exactly which machine it is.

No problem. I just took a Facebook quiz that said I was 100% OCD.  Just doin' my part.

The mystery question remains, what machine were you after?

Sleeprider; At this point I expect anything I would write would be met with editing skills which would be better applied to the NYT fact file rather than a none-medical help site. Hope you are proud of yourself.
