anyone feel free to correct me, but CSR is central in nature, and your events are obstructive in your periodic breathing episode. Therefore, it's not CSR nor CA, but instead obstructive and likely the result of positional apnea. Remedy: soft cervical collar, change in position of sleep, chinstrap, etc. There are a ton of helpful resources on this site about positional apnea.

Correcting. To be crystal clear
In this case what your CPAP shows labeled as CSR, Cheyne Stokes Respiration, is clearly Obstructive Periodic Breathing in nature and NOT actually CSR. Jwest is correct in that actual CSR, which this is clearly not, is central in nature and is quite serious. It is most likely positional in your head/neck alignment when sleeping. If this is not recurring forget about it, if it is read about positional apnea and the use of a soft cervical collar.

RE: Apnea Designations in Oscar?
Thanks for your helpful insights into understanding the analysis of my OSCAR data. Although anecdotal at this time, after learning more about positional obstructive apnea events, I've been making conscious efforts to begin sleep on my side, which has always been comfortable for me, and if I wake during the night, alert myself to remain / return to a side sleeping position.
It appears, at least, in the short run, that effort simultaneously reduces API count and lessens the CSR reports. Will discuss with my doctor for his assessment by showing him my OSCAR data. Stephen

Glad to hear it.
Some people like to tie a tennis ball in sock and place it on their back so that they never roll back to their back. There are many creative alternatives, including products found online made specifically for this use. Food for thought. |
