Can OSCAR falsely detect apnea events?

Can OSCAR falsely detect apnea events?
Is there any possibility that somehow the CPAP machine/OSCAR is detecting central apnea's and Cheyne Stokes Respiration's with his breathing patterns while he's awake? Last night he stopped the machine after 45 minutes and the machine said he already had 29 episodes, but he hadn't even fallen asleep...

Could he somehow be having central apnea's by the way he breathes when awake?

RE: Can OSCAR falsely detect apnea events?
OSCAR only reports what the CPAP provides. It doesn't make any decisions on its own. A person's breathing pattern is very erratic while awake, and can not be used to determine true events. Only after we are asleep when our breathing pattern becomes rhythmic can true apneas be determined.
