Mobility after Inspire Implant

Mobility after Inspire Implant
I've seen several threads on the forum regarding the Inspire implant, ranging from love it to hate it.  I appreciate that every patient as well as every surgeon is different, so I accept that experiences will be different.  I have Inspire scheduled for September 20th.  I'll be happy to related my experience and progress.

I have not seen threads that relate to upper body mobility with the Inspire implant over time.  Since the implant is under the skin on the upper right pec/chest, I'm wondering how/if it might effect more rigorous activities, such as golf, swimming, and comparable activities that engage the upper body long term (i.e. not during the recovery time).

I too, am scheduled for the end of September (9/29).
I'm a 70 year old male with an active gym membership and also stay quite busy as a traveling musician.
This will be my 4th implant counting 2 knees and penile.
I'm slowly becoming the Six Million Dollar Man without the financial benefits.
Good luck and I look forward to comparing my experience with your own.

RE: Mobility after Inspire Implant
I'm scheduled for the INSPIRE procedure this coming Friday, September 15th.  It's been quite a journey to get this far.  Doctor visits, sleep endo, sleep studies -- all to assure I was a candidate and then for insurance approval.

Time is drawing near.  My doctor stated after a few days, lifting nothing heavier than a gallon of water, I'd be fine.  Have to wait 30 days until I return for a visit and get the remote to pair with the device.  (To make sure it's not rejected nor that I have any infection --- physician said his patients have all done well).  So I started in February and it will be mid October until effective.

He stated I may see or feel where the device is, due to not having a lot of fat around my collar bone but said it wouldn't really be visible from my shirt -- hope so -- that would draw attention.  The only other incision will be under my jaw bone and he stated the scar would be small and nearly invisible after healing.

Hoping this will replace the CPAP and help with sleep apnea and some loss of breaths during the night.

SO, I can update you all, if interested.  After surgery and after getting the device into full operation.  OH, and after that, I'll have another sleep study.  There's no way for them to check progress - like the CPAP is connected and reports are online.  I do have an app on my phone so I know exactly what's going on through my night!!

And I won't have to pack a small case plus water when going overnight with the CPAP machine!  EXCITED!!!

WISH me well!!
Thumbs-up-2
