Beginner and newcomer introduces himself

Question
Beginner and newcomer introduces himself
Hello everyone,

after spending the last 5-6 days reading through the various threads, I wanted to briefly introduce myself.

I am new to the guild of "snorkelers" and am currently in the acclimation phase of (A)PAP therapy under medical supervision.

My wife has already told me 5-6 years ago that I have breathing problems at night. However, I have never taken that at face value.
Until now or better said until the "enlightening" night. I was lying in bed somewhere between awake and asleep, and realized that I was not breathing. However, I had no control over my body, only when I had the feeling to suffocate, came the redeeming breath.

So I made an appointment and 10 days later, after a lung function test, I went home with the measuring equipment. "Sleep" As usual, so actually not, if you see the records.

When evaluating it was for me like falling into a hole without a bottom. For me shocking, how little I breathe.

Average AHI 39/h, longest apnea duration was 39sec.  SPO2 83%
Side position AHI 7,5/h, back AHI 67,2/h. Huhsign

After I understood the whole thing, I realized why I am always tired and sometimes nod off for a short time.

After the conversation with recommendation I went home with a Prisma20a and a ResMed N30. However, 3 days later I had to connect a humidifier because I had regular nosebleeds in the morning.

Even if the pressure of 5-15 cmH2O is currently still very large bandwith, I have an average AHI of only 4/h. Smile

I now feel fitter, more rested and much more self-confident after 7 nights.

Or as my wife likes to say, I'm getting my "old" Phil back.

Kudos to the MODS and ADMINS and many others here on the forum who share so much knowledge with us "other" inexperienced.

I hope in time I can contribute here and share my pros and cons.

A pleasant weekend I wish all
