DreamWear Sores

I switched to Dreamwear nasal gel pillows and any leak issues were then gone and I can keep the headwear ridiculously loose and maintain a perfect seal. To combat any sores (which I had often with my Mirage Swift II) I would use Neosporin (applied with Qtip) if there was a 'bump' then switch to Ayr Saline Nasal Gel until the prob was completely gone. When any type of CPAP mask is new there is an element of getting used to it as well.

Keep any nasal pillows fanatically clean and make sure the headgear is a loose as possible without compromising the seal and unless you accidentally sleep on your face at an odd angle I think you should avoid any future issues.

I get that the Dreamwear shouldn't be overtightened and I won't be doing that again but thanks for letting me know that the gel pillows hold their seal well, even when loose. But I still need to find a way to anchor that headstrap. Do that and keeping the pillows loose fitting becomes easier to do so sores won't develop.

But if I did have nasal sores, the last thing I would do is continue using the pillows. What I might try is buying the nasal nose piece on Ebay or just stop wearing a nasal/pillow mask til the sore is healed. Letting it fester til surgery is required doesn't seem like a direction I'd personally care to take,,,, I hate hospitals. Oh-jeez

Cheers,
Robin

I modified my headgear. I put a second headstrap on the back, using a left-over from a mask I replaced.  That stabalized my Dreamwear. Before I did that I had issues with the mask moving when i Rolled onto my  side to sleep. I found that I wok often to make sure my mask was on still; sleep quality was terrible.
I hope this helps.

So far, the only thing that helps is tightening the mask so the pillows are tight in the nostril even when the head strap rises up and loosens the mask. I'm looking for elastic straps that snap together and running  them from the back of the head strap running over the ear to the side of the mask. Til then, it's tighten, tighten, tighten.

I'm also overcleaning the nosepiece daily in hope of preventing sores. As preventive maintenance, I'm also using Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream around my nostrils to ward off rashes before they happen.

1 thing I've found about the Dreamwear pillows, the tighter the mask, the better I'n able to breath and sleep on my side.
