CPAP Athlete Dreamstation Settings
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum... I was sent here from reddit.
I've been snoring for many years. I am an athlete and have more muscle mass than the average male. I've recorded my sleep and had people watch me who get scared because I'm gasping for air and not breathing properly.
I feel tired in the day and don't have as much energy in my peers so I figured I have sleep apnea and went ahead and bough the Phillips dreamstation and Amara view mask.
I haven't been able to do a sleep study yet.
I have tried the cpap machine without the humidifier on the default settings and found myself waking up coughing because I've swallowed air.
Can anyone recommend good settings for this rig to get started. I'm a mouth breather.
Start with min pressure = 8, max pressure =15
Download OSCAR https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
then post a screenshot here, F12 will make a few minor modifications and take the screenprint. Attach it here.
then we can actually see what is going on and start in earnest.

Ramp is not used by most of the Pros here, a few do but not many. Start without it.
Flex to your comfort, A-Flex of 1 or 2.
In a perfect world, use it all night, that is the goal.
You will have many here helping you, not just me.
The key for us is to base suggestions on data, and that includes how you feel in details like your coughing. I will ask Why do you think you are coughing? My first thought is that you need more humidification.

Attached is the chart. I had the mask on for abut 3 hours then I am not sure what happened. It was off when I woke up. Please let me know if this is working and these settings are ok and I will try again and hopefully it stays on for longer.

By the data shown, you're still snoring, Max level was 21... That may indicate you need more air. I'd consider looking into running in auto mode since it's available and may be able to add comfort and better therapy.
