I'm not from USA and it's nearly impossible to find Resmed filters or good quality compatible ones to buy here.
Do you know a seller on Amazon (US or Europe) that sells good quality filters?
Thanks in advance!
Marcos

Marcos, Supplier #2 (See Supplier List at the top of every Apnea Board page) is known for shipping worldwide, and they have filters for Resmed machines. But instead of that I just put mine in the dishwasher silverware tray, and they come out beautiful. You could do as well just using some ordinary soap and a toothbrush to clean them.

[/quote] Correct me if I am wrong, but ResMed S9 and S10 filers are replacement items that are meant to be discarded after its useful life -- and not meant to be cleaned and re-used. In my experience, they come in two styles, regular and hypoallergenic. The filters I use are ResMed-style from Sunset Medical. You can find adequate filters by searcing Amazon for "Disposable Filters ResMed" and select a vendor that ships from the US -- or the Amazon for your country.

Any of these filters are basically to protect the CPAP from nuisance dusts. They are not rated for efficiency and there is very little difference between brands or the OEM. The term hypoallergenic is also meaningless and has no efficiency rating or regulatory definition. Whether the term is used for cosmetics, pillows and bedding or your CPAP filter, it only indicates it is constructed of materials unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.

I've been re-using the filters for my machine now for quite some time. You can indeed reuse them.
It takes less than a minute or two to clean them. Some hot water, a drop or two of dish soap, and a finger massage gets them clean as new. Pat dry with a paper towel and allow to completely air dry for a few minutes. As others have mentioned, the filters protect the machine, not you. If you want to increase their filtering ability a tad bit, spray just a little hair spray on them to add some tackiness. Don't overdo the spray! I'm talking a very slight mist on both sides. I'm now over two years into my SA Therapy. I think I changed out a filter twice. One was beginning to look a little thin, and the other time, I just did it for peace-of-mind. If DME suppliers had their way, they'd be selling us supplies on a weekly basis. |
