[CPAP] Help with bipap settings

Help with bipap settings
I got myself a series 6O philips. It was 3OO usd second hand. I read that it is considered a brick. I will get something better soon, but it should still do something for me I suppose.

I have pretty bad UARS, recently developed hypnic jerking and insomnia and I was desperate for a machine that can treat me. I had wisdom teeth removed and orthodontics as a kid. My problems appeared that time but only got really bad past few years.

I have had used CPAP for a long time with very limited success. I actually developed hypnic jerking and sleep anxiety while on it. It went away and came back stronger recently not using cpap for about 1 year.

I used the bipap machine yesterday slept around 4 hours with it. I didn't wake up sweating like I do usually, so that's something. On PS 3 when drifting to sleep I felt like skipping breaths, so I went down to 2.
Unfortunately I don't know yet how I feel, because my brain is always wired. Last 3 days I slept 3, 5 and now 4 hours. Oh I also need benzo because the hypnic jerks wouldn't let me sleep. It feels that benzo makes them worse, so I definitely want to get rid of it asap.

While on cpap it always felt like I need to keep increasing the pressure to feel better until I would get diminishing returns and aerophagia.

I know there is not a lot you can work with, but for now what is my best course of action? currently settings are pretty low. mode: autobipap, Epap min 4, ipap max 2O, ps 2-4, mask: nasal pillows

I forgot to reset the SD card so now I don't have any data, but I can post some tomorrow hopefully...

Sorry if my post is a bit useless. I am really at a dark place :Sad I fear if I don't sort this out soon (sleeping 3-4 hours only with benzo, not able to take naps due to jerking), I will damage my brain or develop some kind of severe mental illness

I couldn't even get a sleep study because I got panic attack and even benzo wouldn't put me to sleep. So I had to cancel, but I will try again next year after the holidays.

Thanks for reading, and happy christmas...

Set your PS 4-4, UARS you want higher PS

You bought it used you should do a factory reset to make sure everything is reset to defaults.

It's a Phillips, it was likely recalled, do you know it's status? Was the foam pulled from it? I know they didn't rebuild that machine.

okay! I will set it to 4-4! What about pressure? Leave it on auto (4-2O)?

I did the factory reset just today.

I don't know it's status. I removed the foam from it (I suppose the air filter?)
here is a photo of the back of the machine: https://imgur.com/a/wP48kf6

I just ordered a refurbished VAUTO from besmed. IDK how long it will take to get here. (I live in Hungary)

Please take a look on my order. https://imgur.com/a/tvsxQEB

The 60 series Bipap you have was manufactured in 2014, so 10 years old.

The VAuto is a much better machine. As far as being refurbished, do you know if the motor was replaced? Did ResMed tell you what the machine hours were?

When you receive the VAuto, do the factory reset on it to get everything back to default.
Then check in with us to discuss settings.

Good luck!

4-20 is good for now, until we have some data to go from.

EPAP min of 4 is ok for many on BiLevel, the max typically is not reached on properly set machines.

The Philips Respironics System One 60 series BiPAP auto 760 or BiPAP-S 660 both produce full efficacy data on the SD card, assuming it still works, and is compatible with Oscar. The 760 was the machine I used until I got my first Resmed Vauto at which time I gave it away. You over-paid. It's a decent machine, but like most Philips auto devices, it is too slow to increase pressure in response to obstruction. If you're not prone to obstructive apnea, the 4-20 at PS 4 should be okay, but I would suggest a minimum EPAP pressure of 6.0 based on what I know of the machine.

You are right! I just imported the data and it shows all kind of graphs!
I can still cancel the order for my VAUTO

I got a solid 2.5 hour session with some benzo :S

Whenever I would hypnic jerk I feel my throat closing. Is it possible that only surgery can treat me? Feels like no matter the pressure, my tongue is in the way. :Sad I really like cpap therapy but I don't know if it will effective with me.

I cannot get over 11 pressure. I got aerophagia at 8+4. I remember with cpap the cap would be around that limit before experiencing lot of air is my stomach.

I will attach as many graphs as possible, because idk which one is needed. Please tell me if I need to be more specific

That looks good to me.
I suggested 4-xx to best avoid aerophagia, then if resolved to slowly increase if needed. Did you current settings cause aerophagia? If so lower EPAP min.

RE: brick bipap settings
Thank you all!

I think I will be able to handle this from now.

I feel amazing! I mean really Smile)

I hate the reality that most people will go undiagnosed with this awful disease. Treatment was not easy to get without help. It took forever to tackle this beast.

If I was a bit dumber, I would never get the diagnosis and just live my awful life. It doesn't exist where I live.

I will try to create awareness of UARS and try to help people in my area. I am certain my father suffers from this as well. Since I know him he's always been tired and easily irritated. Doesn't snore, but takes a nap every day.
