[CPAP] Switched from nose mask to full face and AHI has increased

RE: Switched from nose mask to full face and AHI has increased
The remaining apnea are coming from positional apnea that we have discussed. You need to find out what sleep positions are causing this and take steps to prevent that. Some members use a night video to monitor sleep. Others have just found a soft cervical collar and dealt with it that way. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...cal_Collar

RE: Switched from nose mask to full face and AHI has increased
Ok, thank you for the information. I will monitor these parameters.
I'm really struggling with the full face mask (leaks and position) and i never tried the nose mask with the same settings.

Is it a good idea to switch back to the nose mask (as a test) but with the settings you provided ?

So from fixed pressure 6 in CPAP mode to APAP mode 10-15 with EPR on 3 ?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Switched from nose mask to full face and AHI has increased
So I switched back to my Resmed Mirage fx nose mask because of the leaking of the full face mask.

I've uploaded my Oscar data below.
  • APAP mode
  • 7-12 pressure
  • EPR 3
This is with a cervical collar but without mouth taping.

I'm not refreshed after this night and I have the feeling I swallowed a lot of air but it was better then other nights.
Does anybody see methods to improve my AHI (or my sleep) any further ?

thanks in advance !

RE: Switched from nose mask to full face and AHI has increased
Last night I had quite a good night of sleep, I'll attach my OSCAR results below. I find it remarkably that it started with a leak, I wasn't aware of it.

Are my settings good or do I need to change them any further to prevent more events and drop the AHI lower ?

my settings at the moment are :
  • APAP
  • Min pressure : 7
  • Max pressure : 12
  • EPR : 3

Some other questions :

I saw in an article or a video that at a certain point (when you've found "your" pressure) it is better to switch to fixed pressure again, to prevent arousals. Would that also be the case in my situation ?

I use my nose mask again, after trying a full face mask. Do you see any reasons to switch to full face again ? I don't have the impression that my mouth opens during the night but I don't know how I can check that in OSCAR.

Thank you in advance !

Late reply i know but did you get the issue resolved?

One thing i want to add is that your leaks are too big. You should get your leaks under control first, then you can dial in your pressure.
