[CPAP] Water in humidifier

I was using tap water and no issues or problems at all. I dumped the tank and wiped it dry every morning.

Thanks for the input, everyone! It sounds like a general consensus that you don't really need to use distilled water in the tank, despite all the dire warnings you see online. I feel pretty good about the RO water I get from the machines as I've been drinking it for at least 10 years with no problems. For extra safety, I may just boil it for a couple of minutes before putting it in my tank (after cooling down, of course). I really appreciate everyone's help!

If you dump the tank every morning, let it dry during the day, and wash it every once and a while then you really shouldn’t need to boil the water first if it’s water you consider safe enough to drink.

There is no reason to boil your water unless you're using a really nasty water source. If it's clean and drinkable, it's safe to use in your humidifier. 
Boiling actually concentrates the minerals and would make things worse for your humidifier chamber (this is the only part of the system that is affected by water).

There's no need to use sterilized water. The pathogens found in most water systems are far too large to be transported by the water vapor molecules that PAP humidification produces.

Boiling will just concentrate any minerals that might be dissolved in the water. If it's safe enough to drink there's no need to boil it.

As others have said......no need to boil the water. It's a waste of time. I cleaned my water reservoir about once a week or so with dish soap. Some White Vinegar works wonders if you do have a mineral build-up in the tank. It gets rid of it FAST.

I use tap water, and then clean the tank as needed. Tried using distilled when I first started years ago, but it became something else to worry about when I went grocery shopping. When the tank starts to get a buildup, add a little vinegar and water, let it sit for a bit, rinse it and dry it. Good to go. Still using the original tank on my machine and have a couple of spares.
