I for one need to find a way to get my anxiety about my sleep apnea under control so I don’t add even more health problems to my already long list. The thing is, once you get OSCAR figured out you'll be able to make some changes based on what we see in your data. Then your situation will start to improve. It won't take too long after that to optimize your therapy. Then you can just monitor it and focus instead on what's happening in your life while you're awake. After all, the only reason we sleep with CPAP machines is so we can enjoy the time we have when we're awake.

RE: CPAP for 10 Years - STILL HIGH AHI's!
Hi again Jennie. We're making progress and we can already tell some things from the data you've posted. However to get the best value we need to see the whole daily page from Oscar, not just the summary. The following links tell you how to go about this:
Organise the page to show the most important data: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...ganization Take a screenshot: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...screenshot Attach the screenshot to your post: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...pnea_Board Initially post a chart showing the whole night. We may then ask you to zoom in to a particular event for more detailed investigation. From the data summary you've already posted we can rule out central and complex apnea as an issue. This is good news, as central apnea requires a specialised machine, and you need to jump through a lot of hoops to get one. We can also see that periodic breathing is not a problem. Again, this is good because a particular type of periodic breathing called Cheyne Stokes Respiration is associated with congestive heart failure. So the fact you have hardly any PB indicates you're not about to fall off the perch from that condition. The next one is a guess (and we'll say for sure once we've seen your charts) but I suspect you apneas might be coming in clusters. This often indicates that your sleeping position might be contributing. In particular you might find your chin tucked down to your chest, which squeezes the windpipe and makes it more prone to apneas. In that case the simple fix is to wear a soft collar to support your neck. You've moving ahead now. Let's see the full daily chart and there will be a big leap in your knowledge of your condition, and from that you will be able to make some decisions to get right on top of this apnea.

Jennie, your results show a lot of obstructive apnea, in spite of a relatively high pressure of 13 cm. You have been unable to post a full daily details chart that shows us the distribution of the apnea. My guess is that it is clustered and that you should consider positional apnea treatment like a soft cervical collar. When we tuck the chin to the chest, amny of us experience occlusion of the airway that no CPAP pressure can clear. We wrote Wiki article that discusses it and shows examples of what it looks like on an OSCAR chart. Please take a look here and see if this looks familiar: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...onal_Apnea

RE: CPAP for 10 Years - STILL HIGH AHI's!
Not sure whether this will help, but this is most of the chart info from June 12, 2019. If this helps explain what's going on with me better, maybe I have something to go on to make my sleep better. I do sleep on my back with 3 pillows due to my acid reflux problem and also because I must use a wedge pillow for for legs every night to keep them elevated due to having venous insufficiency - so I already have many strikes against me for trying to improve the quality of my sleep and get my numbers down with using CPAP. I know side sleeping is the ideal position when using CPAP for sleep apnea.

Doesn’t mean you weren’t breathing - that’s what an apnea is, and those episodes are tagged - it usually means you had a large leak and the machine couldn’t tell if your mask was on or off because of a large venting of air. |
