Joining along with the fun - i just bought a used Aircurve 10 VAuto, and found out despite being "new" that it has 7200 hours on it. I see everyone talking about 15+ plus; any idea if these newer model machines are actually making it that far? I cant really return it, so i am hoping i didn't flush money down the drain..

The seller did. Sadly, it wasnt quite close enough to drive to, so I paid the shipping. All told, I paid 290, which I figured was worth the risk. 

I am letting it vent air right now, and it sounds ok. But I am miffed at the hours count on this thing...

The seller did. Sadly, it wasnt quite close enough to drive to, so I paid the shipping. All told, I paid 290, which I figured was worth the risk.

Unfortunately, that's the chance we all sometimes take. Well, you did pay a killer price. Cheap enough to see if it'll work for you without breaking the bank. You are still likely to get 3-4 years out of it. Meanwhile you can save up for the next one, and go into buying it a bit wiser.

Very true. All told, I was buying it sight unseen, so I knew it was a bit of a risk, but as you said, for a killer price. And my dreamstation still is under 1500 hours, so I have a solid backup. 

Any idea if the rattle (only on picking it and lightly shaking) is normal? I assume it is, since it doesnt rattle in operation.. But I am paranoid and want to check. 

I checked with the seller.. It seems he was reading the nightly hour report ( so of course, 0), and got it at an estate sale. I may have a haunted BiPap. ;-)

You probably got a decent deal, but obviously not a great one given the deception. 7200 hours is well used, but I think 15000 is a pretty minimal lifetime, and have gotten 18K out of a machine. Take care of it, and it will take care of you for several more years. Meanwhile, you will find out why we really like these machines.

Sorry, I don't know about the rattle. Hopefully somebody else will chime in. Though I wouldn't shake mine to see if it rattles in the first place, lol...

Just shook mine. No rattle. As long as it works I'd use it. Just don't shake it. If your machine lasts only two more years it would be like renting one for $12 a month. Not a bad deal.

Well, if the guy's story is right about buying from an estate sale, i guess i can't say i am surprised he didnt know the hours.  But i am still annoyed (and really hoping its not broken).

Well, i didn't do it violently.. just taking it out of the box i noticed it.  Maybe it sounds kinda like a clunk. it doesn't really sound like a part rolling around in there... just kinda like the fan moving..maybe
