CPAP Data Interpretation Help
Hello everyone,

I started CPAP therapy about 8 months ago. My machine is Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset - Pressure Range : 4-20cm with EPR 3 and Heated tubing with humidification. My doctor requires me to see him once every 3 months. The last I saw him was in Jan this year and he said I was doing OK. I decided to stop seeing him due to expensive co-pays.

Can someone please take a look at the attached Sleepyhead screenshots and let me know if I can tweak anything to improve my sleep quality?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Sam

Looks good.
Your minimum pressure is set to 4. Are you comfortable at such a low pressure? Many people prefer a slightly higher pressure (6) and raising it may help to avoid some of events.

Personally, I'd increase the min to 6 and the max to 11.

I'm so used to my min of 15 and cannot imagine trying to sleep at 4.

Have to agree with everyone else, move your minimum pressure up to 6cm.  Maximum could be set to 11 or 12cm.  Also, I noticed you are using EPR OF 3. Try a setting of 2.

One more thing, next time you post graphs, just include the following:  Events, Pressure, Flow Rate, Leak Rate and Snores.  This way you can whittle it down to one graph.

So I will change the min pressure to 6 and if the AHI does not improve, go back to 4 ??

Thanks a lot Walla Walla, tedvpap and Paula. Really appreciate your advise.

We aren’t necessary looking to lower your AHI, as it is good. We are looking at comfort. Most folk will feel air starved at a pressure of 4, but that it entirely up to you.

We also look at 95% and median pressure readings. A good rule of thumb is to keep the minimum pressure approximately 2cm below the 95% number which usually is about the same as the median pressure. A minimum pressure of 6 falls into that range.

Sam, your EPR is set to 3, so your EPAP pressure does not move from 4.0 cm until your current pressure is greater than 7.0 cm.  I think a minimum pressure of 6.0 is a great idea and will make your machine more responsive, however, you should revise your EPR setting to 2.  That way your pressure and exhale pressure will move together.  I think you will find it more comfortable as an EPR of 3 is unnecessary at such low pressures, and I know it will improve performance.
