Can My Luna 3b Be 'Bricked' (deactivated) by Doctor or Service?
My CPAP device is saving my life.
I got a call from a Repo Man today saying he was going to take it. I am traveling with my device, so that didn't happen. He told me I was 'out of compliance'.
I have used the device as much as possible, but there have been periods where it wasn't working and it took a while to get fixed/solve the problem. This is NOT deliberate 'non-compliance', but they want to take it away anyhow... and that will slowly kill me.
I don't want to 'break any rules', but I also don't have the ability to jump through all the hoops it will take to set this right. I simply can't afford that much travel at all because I'm pretty much stuck where I am.
I just need to know if it's going to simply stop working, which is tragic to me after how much weight I've lost and otherwise benefitted from having it.

Best guess is your data can be shut-off so you have no access. I’m not a big fan of buying Chinese devices and letting them have sole access to data or control on a device like this. As far as I know the positive pressure function will continue to function.

well if your 3b/luna machine is not connected to the internet there is no way to deactivate your device remotely

To get the hours you need, use it while you are awake to watch tv or read a book. It will only show how many hours a day it is used not if you were asleep. Get enough (4 hours a night) to be in compliance.

Interesting question. I am wondering if you are flagged out of compliance, is any negotiation there for resuming enough regular usage. Or one and done so to say. Worth calling your DME and doctor or have you tried that already?
(Also, I doubt you can be bricked in any way without access to the machine. I also have a Luna II 3B provided by my DME and is "rent to own" with my insurance. The WiFi module never worked right so I disconnected it and I simply use the QR codes it generates and the app provided by 3B to report compliance info via the camera on my phone. The DME and doctor get that data. There is no way the machine gets info from anywhere and nobody can log into it. Finally, you could probably find a machine second hand. I picked up an older S9 with very low hours for cheap and have it as a backup in case something happens to the Luna or for travel. It is your life and health.)

Thank you.
I've considered that, but it's difficult to get that kind of time to myself. The actual problem is that in the first 6 weeks I had it, it was down, I couldn't use it, and I had a nightmare of a time trying to solve the problems with no timely help from the company. I just need to know how to prevent it from getting 'bricked' because my life literally depends on it.

The option to go into the WiFi settings is deactivated. The selections just skip over it. It also connects to the wireless network. There seems to be no way to put it in 'airplane mode' or disable the WiFi.
Thanks though. If I do find a solution, I'll put it up here.

Yes, flagged.
Attempted to call the service (Pneumonologist is useless, never returns calls, but that's my next step) and get answers. Explained issues. The 'tech' was genuinely perplexed and even a little sympathetic, but he said that they'd 'call me back'.
I'm going to look into disconnecting the module.
A second-hand machine is a possible option, but that's expensive and I love this one.
Thanks much!

Pulled the WiFi. Thanks.
Now I just have to find out if the WiFi card
also has the cell network connectivity, if it's a separate module (uh-oh), or if it has no cellular capability.

What Luna model are you using? A Luna II or a Luna G3?
You should be able to report compliance using the QR plus codes and the 3B app for the Luna II. It is a little tricky as it uses the flash on the phone camera to tell the machine to cycle through additional codes. If you have this model and want some tips on how to get it working with the app, let me know.

Hey, thanks!
According to my stats, I'm in compliance right now. So I'm sure they were using the period when my machine (b3) was down to justify not paying.
But this might be a good idea. Thanks again!
