[Equipment] first experience with Dream Station Go Auto CPAP
#1
first experience with Dream Station Go Auto CPAP
At home, I use a CPAP with water reservoir and it works well.  Originally, after a sleep study my CPAP settings were set beginning at 4 and ramping up to 10. I have been comfortable for 8 years  using this set up.   Shy

For travel purposes, I just bought a Philips Dream Station Go Auto CPAP from an online supplier and found it is locked at 4.  I tried this out last night.   As I tried to sleep, I felt that I was working  harder to breathe on this travel machine.  I wondered whether the new small hose contributed to that.   I woke after only 4 hours of sleep with discomfort in my lungs.  Sad

As the Dream Station Go has no water reservoir, I am wondering whether the dry air caused my lack of sleep and lung discomfort or was it caused by the lock on the machine to only 4.  I do note that it helped my discomfort to breathe in Vicks Vapo rub when I woke up.

I have just joined the apneaboard and have requested the clinician set up instructions for my new travel machine so I can  re-set it to what I am used to.

I would love to hear from others whether they have had similar experience and whether unlocking and re-setting will likely solve my discomfort  or whether I need to find some type of hydration device to moisturize the air when using this new machine.   Thinking-about

RE: first experience with Dream Station Go Auto CPAP
Hi fluffberry,
Welcome to Apnea Board!

Try to set up your travel machine close to what you have been using.  If you feel that using the ramp feature makes you comfortable, then set it to start at 6cm and ramp up to your therapy setting of 10cm.

A setting of 4cm, whether using ramp or not is going to cause you to feel air starved.

Over time, your needs may change and a different pressure is needed.  You can use #SleepyHead software and post a screenshot of your data if you would like us to take a look at it.

As far as humidity, most do without when they travel, but if you need it, then you might want to consider taking your regular machine with you.
