Cpap causing Central Apneas

Cpap causing Central Apneas
Hi, I recently switched from using a full face mask to the nasal pillow AirFit P10, but it's causing me a lot of central apneas. With the full face mask, I was experiencing a maximum of 2 or 3 per night, but with the nasal pillow, I'm encountering around 10 to 15 every night, and I feel much less rested. I made the switch from the full face mask to the nasal pillow because after two months of CPAP treatment, I was still waking up tired with headaches. My settings: min 7 max 14 epr 3 full time

RE: Cpap causing Central Apneas
"A lot" is not very many. You are still just one event per hour. That is completely normal. Get rid of that monthly calendar and we can see more information.  The following quote from here: https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/3...verview#a7

Quote:Central sleep apnea during sleep-wake transition

Up to 40% of healthy individuals may exhibit central apneas during sleep-wake transition. The central apneas occur during the period that chemoreceptors are resetting and instability of ventilation control occurs. They are usually brief and not associated with significant oxygen desaturation. The clinical significance of this entity is unknown. Once stable sleep is reached, normal individuals should not have more than 5 central apneas per hour of sleep.

Postarousal central apnea or postsigh central apnea

During a PSG review, central apneas are commonly seen following an arousal or after a sigh and are usually inconsequential. They are thought to be a result of Herring-Breuer reflex or hypocapnia induced by hyperventilation caused by a sigh or arousal.
