[Diagnosis] Apnea analysis question

Can any of you tell me please if the apnea event at midnight was for 10 seconds?

From the color it LOOKS like a central. I would suggest you download and use OSCAR it is free at the top of the site. It will put the type of apnea in a chart AND show the duration of each.

I know it is a central I asked it was for 10 secs as I think . there is a scale on the left side and I assume it is seconds.

Pretty difficult to tell from the sparse information supplied.  Your guess is as good as any.  What does the RESmart software documentation say about it?  

I'll answer that, I found a copy of the manual and gave it a quick look - there are no words describing that display specifically, or what the fields mean.  As a guess, I think it was about 10 seconds.  Link to BMC PAP SW manual

Whether you had a 10 second CA or 14 second CA, it really doesn't matter.  Nor if you had 1 CA last night and 3 tonight.  If you had a lot of CA's it matters.  In what you have shown there is a single CA of minimum duration.  If that's all you had, it's well within "normal".  CA's are consistently inconsistent!

If I have looked up your PAP machine correctly, it is an APAP type machine and is not meant to treat CA.  So you may get CA events some nights and not others.  Hope this was helpful.

Using Oscar you put the mouse on the apnea is shows you the length of it.

@staceyburke, it would appear the original poster isn't using OSCAR, but something like nPAP RESmart software.  The displays and amount of data that is shown in nPAP seems less complete as compared to OSCAR.  

The link I posted earlier will get you to the RESmart SW manual download.  The manual I found indicates the viewing software is a 32 bit only application that only works on Windows.  (Us linux jockeys or MAC lovers need not apply!)  The displays and fonts look quite dated, in my opinion, but one can extract some basic information from it.  RESmart certainly is better than looking at a tiny idiot display on a PAP machine.  In my humble opinion, however, it is not as polished as OSCAR.

OSCAR is an incredibly powerful tool.  The displays are bright and clear, with a good UI.  There's a lot of information that's visible.  

For me, OSCAR is the cornerstone of a data-driven approach to apnea therapy.  There's a lot of data logged by many apnea machines.  Those with enough experience (not me yet!) are smart enough to extract the clues that are hidden and contained within.  Our AB is blessed with quite a few people with those skills.  Thanks for being here and helping people every day, it is truly appreciated.

Oscar does not work with BMC cpap

I don't believe the OSCAR software supports the BMC ResMart machines.

The graph you posted doesn't tell us much about the duration, but going by the numbers to the left of the graph (I assume in 10 second increments), then the Central would be approximately 10 seconds or slightly under.

Which is nothing to worry about.  If you experienced a lot of them during the night, then that could be concerning.
