Does machine kick In if you have apnea during ramp time

Does machine kick In if you have apnea during ramp time
I have the Resmed Aircurve 10 Asv but I'm guessing all the machine are the same for this question. Lets say you set ramp time to 30 minutes and fall asleep quickly. If you have an apnea in those 30 minutes will the machine kick in to address the apnea or does it stay in ramp mode no matter what? Thank you

That is a very good question. I don't know, but am interested to find out.

Based on my experience with the Ramp feature, the answer is no. It does not sense, nor record, any events during the ramp. That is one of the reasons we do not recommend its use.

On your AirCurve, or any ResMed using Timed Ramp, no.

On the AirSense, in AutoRamp mode, yes, if events surpass a threshold.

AutoRamp will leave Ramp mode, if it determines you've fallen asleep, or if it detects events consistent with the need to increase pressure.  In AutoRamp, Airsense's do monitor events, but don't flag them.

Specifically the conditions to exit AutoRamp and switch to therapy mode on AirSense are:
  • 30 breaths of stable breathing (roughly 3 minutes) (Your likely asleep)
  • 5 consecutive snore breaths
  • 3 obstructive apneas or hypopneas within 2 minutes
  • 30 minutes

Your question has been answered, but I have an observation. Your profile indicates you have the pressure set at the 5-15 range. That means it starts at 5. With the ramp, it will start at 4. So that's pretty useless.

The ramp feature is perhaps useful for beginners, but after a night or two most people find they don't need it. I recommend you turn yours off and see if it suits you.
