Dumb Question - Just nervous and want some clarification
Hi everyone -
I have been on ASV therapy for 2 years (primarily Obstructive apneas). My motor went out yesterday and I had to UPS the machine from Missouri to California today to get a new motor put in.
That said, I am very nervous (high anxiety by nature) about not having my machine as I never miss a night.
My mom has a BiPAP machine - same brand Resmed, she just told me she doesn't use and I could use it for the next 7-8 days while mine is being repaird.
I am NOT asking for medical advice, but in your opinion, is this a situation where I would be better off using her machine with whatever pressures it has, than using nothing at all?
Please let me know if you have any feedback it is much appreciated.

Solely based on your first statement about primarily having OAs, the use of an ASV is the wrong machine to treat this condition. An ASV is to treat CAs. The Bi-Level AirCurve 10 S or VAuto series are the machines to treat OAs.

Thanks for your response, long story short I got my sleep study and machine at a one stop shop clinic and I believe I was sold a machine I didn't need. That said, there is nothing i can do about it now as the place is gone and i paid a lot of money for it so my current Pulmonologist is okay with me using it until it's on it's last legs.

KC90, do you know the settings you had on the ASV or perhaps a chart from Oscar? I can tell you how to setup a different machine to get by, but I need some information. EPAP min, EPAP max, PS min, PS max are your settings, but it's so much better to see a chart.

Hi again sleeprider. This is from my prescription from the original ASV. I'm not sure how or if any of this translates but these are my pressures I guess? I get confused because the machine says its Auto but then it has these manual settings. Anyway hope this helps, you've been a great lifeline.
Auto-ASV: Auto mode, EPAP min 4cmH2O, PS min 0, PS max 15

Given this as the sleep study results, maybe ASV is an over-treatment status. CA and mixed total 28, with 111 OA, and 245 Hypopnea. VAuto or even AutoSet maybe is better suited here? I think it was mentioned within the several cliff hanger threads of the possibility ASV is overkill here
