What works best? Chin strap or tape?

RE: What works best? Chin strap or tape?
Yes, the Knightsbridge Dual Band is considerably bulkier than other chin straps.  The reason is that the Knightsbridge utilizes a different principle than traditional chin straps.  Traditional chin straps are generally made of a stretchy material like neoprene, and wrap around the tip of the chin and the top back of the head.  The problem is that the line between the tip of the chin and the top back of the head passes almost directly through the jaw joint.  So traditional chin straps attempt to immobilize the jaw by forcing the jaw into the joint.  This is actually the worst direction of force possible.  It's uncomfortable and doesn't work, and long-term use can cause joint damage.  (Think of trying to immobilize a door by pushing from the outer edge towards the hinges.)

The Knightsbridge Dual Band provides vertical lift to the jaw.  But to stabilize that vertical force at the front of the face over the course of the night, a full cap design is needed, i.e., contact at the lower back of the head is needed to prevent the cap from rotating forwards over the course of the night.  And then a back size-adjustment strap is also needed because of the full cap.  And the head must be measured, because three sizes are needed, again because of the full cap design.  (So, unlike traditional chin straps, it's not "one size fits all," but it's a chin strap design that actually works.)

And then the two bands help minimize the applied force while still being effective.  The inelastic band prevents the jaw from lowering, and the elastic force is used to provide a gentle upwards force.  So it is actually quite comfortable.

Our website has graphics and a video which helps explain all this.

(But please make sure to go to Supplier #37, not the counterfeiting site.   I'm the founder of the company and the inventor of the product, as is explained at the bottom of the homepage, and I've had to file federal racketeering lawsuit 4:24-cv-05826-HSG to deal with this counterfeiting issue, which hopefully will finally be resolved soon ... )
