I'm on day 3 of CPAP therapy and am having a problem. The problem is the heat and humidity settings on the machine are giving me way, way too much heat / humidity in auto mode. The first night with the machine I slept okay and managed to keep the mask on all night. Night before last, I removed the mask for this issue and put it back on approximately 30 minutes after removing it. Last night, when I woke up I took it off after 3.5 hours and never put it back on. I remember when I woke up last night the sensation was that I felt like I couldn't breathe because it felt like the devil was giving me CPR. The air felt so thick and so hot that I just couldn't stand it. I ripped the mask off and woke up this morning to my alarm.
The DME set the device up for me when I went to pick it up on Monday and I called there yesterday and this morning and can't get ahold of him. I've watched videos on YouTube from Lanky Lefty and CPAP Reviews as well as others and in my addled / dead tired mental state I can't make sense of what to set the humidity or heat of the tubing to.
I thought maybe if I described what I like that maybe someone could offer a suggestion. I really want this therapy to work and to get better. I like to sleep in a cold room. I generally prefer that the temperature of the room at bedtime be around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. I know that I would like some humidity, but not as much as whatever the automatic setting is giving me. I live in central Alabama and we have enough humidity year round so whatever the auto setting is, it's way too much.
My pressure setting is set for 13 and that feels fine, although I have installed an SD card but haven't had a chance to review my data on OSCAR yet. If you feel like that would be relevant to this, just let me know and I'll try and upload it when I have a chance.
Any advice, tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. - James
