[Equipment] Ice in Humidifier

Hi. I have read some post whereby i see some people add ice to the humidifier when there is high humidity. I live in South Africa where it can become scorchers in summer. I don't have air conditioning . I used my humidifier in winter when it is very cold but now I'm summer i can't even put the humidifier on 1 then it feels like I'm suffocating. Does ice work? Should my unit be on "Off" when I add the ice.?  Or should I switch mine off entirely in the summer. It's was almost 40 degrees Celsius 2 days back.

Adding ice to the reservoir, NO WATER, will draw humid air over the ice and cool it.  The cooler air won't be able to retain the same volume of water evaporated in it, and thus will cause water to condense on the ice cubes.  This will dry the air somewhat....and cool it.


Over time, you will see the water accumulate in the reservoir, but also the melting ice water.

Agreed, add some ice cubes, but set your machine to "0" humidity, but the hose should ideally be kept at its lowest temp level, NOT OFF!  If you turn the hose off, it will be cool and allow even more water to begin to condense inside it...possibly.

Or just pull the humogrifier off the unit totally and just go straight to the blower section. I did that for years in the summer. Now, as it suddenly got REAL DAHumm humid, my machine uses almost no water at all.

Maybe can go 5 days on a single filling.

But on the road, I am naked (without humidicator).
