[Equipment] Mouth leaks w/ FFM

Mouth leaks w/ FFM
I'm currently using a ResMed nasal n30i mask, but since I haven't been able to eliminate leaking, I am considering changing to a FFM. When I tried a ResMed F40, the mask made a tight seal around my nose, but the mask isn't wide enough to make a tight seal around my mouth. There were leaks right at the corners of my mouth. The problem seems to be that the size options only accommodate different sizes of nose, but the portion of the mask covering the mouth is one-size-fits-all. I like the design of the DreamWear FFM because the air tube is on the top of the mask instead of in front, but again there are no size options for around the mouth, only for different sizes of nose. This makes me worried that the one-size-fits-all-mouths approach will once again not work for me. Has anybody else dealt with this problem?

I found mostly the same with other ResMed full face masks. I've gone on to Fisher and Paykel masks.

If you still want to use nasal masks, you might consider mouth tape. There's advocates for this on the board that can give pointers.

The DreamWear FFM Large size is slightly larger than the medium one.

Thanks for the suggestion, SarcasticDave. I should have mentioned in my original post that I have tried taping and am using a chin strap. I really didn't like taping. When I need to yawn, I really need to be able to yawn. Not having that as an option is a deal breaker. The chin strap has helped reduce my mouth leaks, but it has not eliminated them. I'm going to give the ResMed F40 another try and play around with the tension on the straps. I don't think the straps were too tight before, but maybe I just didn't have them adjusted properly. The mask is clean and the straps were snug without being tight. It just seem like my mouth is a little too wide. (Not the first time I've been accused of having a big mouth!)
