[Equipment] O2 ring itchy skin

O2 ring itchy skin
Hello!

I believe I have very strange issue, related to the Wellue Viatom O2 Ring pulsoxymeter. The device is excellent, however after wearing that for literally 5-10 minutes my skin on the finger (I was trying thumb and index finger) starts to be very itchy and red - it looks for me like a rash. I was searching this forum, but couldn't find any reliable info in this topic.

I'd like to ask if anybody of you who use this device daily observed such behavior?

I don't use mine daily, maybe only once a week, but I've not had that problem.

It sounds like you're having a allergic reaction. Is it too tight? Try a smaller/different finger.

First, do you have any latex allergies? Since it has electronics, I would try wiping it down with alcohol. This would hopefully remove any substance that you are allergic to. If you still have a reaction, then I would guess it is an ingredient in the band of the ring.

Thank you for your advice.

I've cleaned up the band with alcohol and also change my finger to small one. It looks like this solved the problem!

It is contact dermatitis, and it is usually either bacterial or incompatible materials close-contact.  Some people, for example, have an adverse reaction to nickel.  If your skin has bacteria that profuse under wearable devices, then you must clean both the skin and the contacting surface at least once each day.

You could try a light application of 'barriere cream', available at drug stores, and even the old babies' bottom 'zincofax' would probably work...a light layer only so that you don't get the performance out of the device that you and its designers intend.
