Use ASV as a backup machine?

Use ASV as a backup machine?
When my wife passed away recently, she left behind a Resmed AirCurve 10 ASV machine. It has 1103 hours on it; since she slept about 10-12 hours per night, that makes it about 92-110 days of use.

I have uncomplicated OSA without significant CA events.

Question: can I use this as a backup machine? If so, how?

Sorry to hear of your loss. You should be able to "dumb-down" (lack of a better description) the ASV to match an Autoset.

Hope you're alright with such a loss, and yes use it, most asvs can be set to straight cpap mode, I use one in the same way.

Very sorry for your loss. I recommend you work out a deal with Supplier #2 to swap that ASV for a Vauto or Autoset which will be more appropriate to your needs. I think the hours are low enough on the ASV to meet their criteria for re-homing and the ASV is a more valuable machine due to scarcity. You might come away with a few $$ to compensate. The ASV has a CPAP mode, but it does not offer the EPR or autoset of your current machine. It is very difficult to make an ASV simulate a dumbed down machine because the settings require a difference of at least 5-cm between the minimum and maximum pressure support, and it operates in ASV mode. Most people that do no need ASV find this disruptive and uncomfortable. Meanwhile, your wife's ASV could make a big difference for someone that needs it and cannot afford a new machine through insurance. Supplier #2 has been very good with providing reasonably priced machines, but the ASV in particular has increased in price over the past 2-3 years.
