I did a bit of research and a lot of folks are saying that the SpO2 data from RingConn is pretty accurate. It's enticing that it doesn't require a subscription like Oura, and the battery is supposed to last 7 days.

RingConn
Anybody use RingConn and successfully download the data into Oscar?

RE: RingConn
I wasn't on this board when you asked the question, but...
Both the Ringconn Gen 1 and Gen 2 sample SpO2 at either 5 minute or 30 minute intervals. That would make a very interesting graph line in OSCAR.

RE: RingConn
I use the RingConn Gen1, I wish there would be a way to enter the data in Oscar. I like it, comfortable to wear and also gives sleep stages . I have it for almost a year now and it’s better for me than an Apple Watch. I charge it every 5 days or so.

I have it for almost a year now and it’s better for me than an Apple Watch. I charge it every 5 days or so. The problem with the Ringconn (and perhaps the other rings as well) is that the sampling rate is not sufficient to provide the data you need to supplement data already collected and displayed on OSCAR. I found a new Ninon 3150 BT for a very good price. It uses Bluetooth to the ResMed11 PAP machine and logs SpO2 data every 4 seconds. (It has the option of setting data capture at 1 second or 2 second intervals as well, but you have to pop $300 for the software to do that.) The Gen 1 Ringconn samples at 5 minute and 30 minute intervals. You can easily have a couple of apnea events within a 5 minute period, and even more over 30 minutes. With the 3150's 4 second sampling, I can see on OSCAR an event that took place, and then look at the SpO2 graph and see the reaction. Reading the charts in the morning, the SpO2 graph is essentially a trailing indicator. It takes a little time for the lower O2 blood to get out to the finger, and then a while to recover to the normal level. There is even less actual data available with Gen 2 rings and their most recent app software. What you get is Ringconn's processed information. There is a more detailed review for their 3-night sleep apnea thing, but the detailed chart you can look at in 3 minute increments. That hasn't stopped Ringconn from producing an "AHI" score for each of the 3 nights. Ringconn is making claims about the accuracy of their rings, but accuracy doesn't mean much when you present the information as a row of fat vertical lines showing the high and low O2 over a series of time blocks. Even worse is the line smoothing they apply in their single line charts. Ringconn is pretty quiet regarding the capability of their ring to actually capture events. As a warning device, the Ringconn could alert you to contact your medical provider for real tests. But beyond that, I can't see how the Ringconn could possibly collect enough information to calculate an AHI score. OSCAR can ingest data from some pulse oximeters, but you need to set things up properly. If the device is wrist mounted and the sensor is a silicone sleeve type, you should be able to obtain information that's actually usable. |
