FLASHAIR W-04 (Did I kill it?)

RE: FLASHAIR W-04 (Did I kill it?)
(01-28-2018, 12:48 PM)zzzZorro Wrote: Q- Was the bracketed [WLANSD]/[Vendor] and the space between the two data blocks meant to be in the code?
They were used in the initial documentation I had for the FlashAir.  Thet seem to be block designations and are not functional.  Don't worry about using them.

(01-28-2018, 12:48 PM)zzzZorro Wrote: Q- Was APPNAME=S9 assigned by the code or was it pointing to something named in your system?
The S9 is the name for my CPAP.  You can name it anything you wish so long as it is unique in your network, like the IP.  It just has to be one word.
Examples:
APPNAME=zzzZorro = good - 1 word
APPNAME=My CPAP = bad - 2 words
APPNAME=My_CPAP= good - the 2 words are connected by an underline character

(01-28-2018, 12:48 PM)zzzZorro Wrote: Q- Any other way besides pinging to check if the card is alive?
If it answers the ping, then open your web browser and type the assigned IP address in the URL box.  If successful, it will connect like a web page but show the SD's directory contents.

I hope you are successful.

Thanks Red for hanging with me..
It will not answer a ping no matter what I change the last set of numbers to.

Q- Could it be the mixed alpha-numeral Network name and Password with a (.) in it is unrecognizable to this lash-up?

Either the FlashAir or ME must be dead between the contacts  Dont-know

Probably to go out and plow snow for a break..

RE: FLASHAIR W-04 (Did I kill it?)
It's entirely possible it is defective but lets try a few things.

Are you using WPA2, 2.4ghz wifi?

Forget setting a static IP for now. start from the basics.
Remove your Flashair and look on the back and write down it's MAC address. Then put it back in your PC or CPAP.

[Image: sLQ2NZY.jpg]

Put the following in your CONFIG file which is saved in the SD_WLAN folder on your Flashair. If it is not in this folder, or if windows tacked on ".txt" to the name of the file it will not work. Has to just be named CONFIG. It helps to set your folder view options to show file name extensions and view hidden items. SD_WLAN is a hidden folder by default.

APPMODE=5
APPNAME=Flashair
PRODUCT=FlashAir
VENDOR=TOSHIBA
APPSSID=set Your SSID
APPNETWORKKEY=set your wifi password
LOCK=1
DNSMODE=1
NOISE_CANCEL=0
STA_RETRY_CT=0

Once saved, remove and replace the card. Wait 30 seconds and check your wifi for connected devices. You're looking for the MAC address of your flashair card.
A program I find invaluable for discovering devices on my network is Netscan by SoftPerfect. It's totally free and will list MAC and IP of every device on your network.
Using FlashAir W-03 SD card in machine. You can download your data through wifi with FlashPAP or Sleep Master utilities.

I wanted to learn Binary so I enrolled in Binary 101. I seemed to have missed the first four courses. Big Grinnie

Stick it to the man, Download OSCAR and take back control of your data!

Thanks Ian. Like I didn't have enough Honey-Do projects to tackle. Mornincoffee

Thanks Alan; This is an old Dlink DIR-655 router.  It is set for WPA/WPA2 - Personal.  Searching for 2.4ghz or not- think it is maybe running 2.4 and 5ghz?

Advanced Wireless Settings

Set the rest up using Notepad++ and your data and it still cannot find it.  Network Scanner shows four MAC addresses. Router, 2-computers and a VOIP.
FlashAir is Nada!

zzzZorro,
I forgot to mention that each time you modify the CONFIG file, you will need to "Safely Remove a USB device" and reinsert it back in the PC for the card to initialize and use the new parameter values.

Succinctly put...

Thanks To all who helped me.  It is on the way back to Amazon to hopefully be replaced.

When I get a replacement I will get instructions from the very start. Be interesting to know if it was defective OR if I worked my magic on it..

An Amazon supplier I got it from received and replaced it to me- WITHIN A WEEK!  Wish I could say their name, because that is almost unheard of.. (something like.. T&D's but that's just close enough to maybe figure it out Grin )

I found PAPIT's [01-02-16] detailed description on set up and run about eight down on the thread.

It now apparently works GREAT Thanks  THANKS all and especially to PAPIT
