DreamStation 2 ramps down as soon as touch screen is touched

DreamStation 2 ramps down as soon as touch screen is touched
Hi

I have a question. The DreamStation 2 I have will automatically go into ramp mode if the touch screen is touched while in use. So I could be at a pressure of 9, and if I accidentally touch the touch screen at night the pressure will immediately drop down to 4 because it's going into ramp mode. Is there any way to disable that? Better yet, is there any way to lock down the touch screen so nothing happens if I accidentally touch it?

Thank you

The DS2 is designed to do just what you describe and I don't believe there would be a way to disable it, nor would there be a way to 'lock down' the touch screen.

From the user manual.....

"Note: The device goes dark after 60 seconds of inactivity. To wake up the device, tap anywhere on the display. This will simultaneously reactivate your RAMP PLUS pressure (if set), or it will take you to your prescribed minimum pressure level and continue to automatically adjust your delivered pressure as needed (if in Auto CPAP mode). Once the display appears, you can continue to adjust settings as desired."

Best I can suggest is to relocate the DS2 to a position by your bed where you would be less likely to accidentally touch the touch screen.
Do you have the same pressure settings on the DS2 as your Resmed CPAP? A minimum setting of 4 and a ramp start of 4 may not play together well in terms of having a ramp to a higher set pressure. If you are set at a higher minimum pressure, perhaps turn the ramp OFF, try that for a few nights, and see if you really think ramp is helpful to have.

I see. This is another machine for another family member. So how do you see the current pressure without it ramping down then? When I click on the screen it'll show me, and then immediately ramp down.

I'm not sure why seeing the current pressure while the machine is in operation would be useful/helpful. The pressure is not necessarily constant  and could be changing radiply  while you're looking at it as shown by a screenshot of my pressure as displayed in the software OSCAR. If you haven't as of yet, it may be useful to download OSCAR (there should be a link on this forum where it can be downloaded from) which can display many parameters that are recorded to an SD memory card. The DS2 may not have come with an SD card, but they are relatively inexpensive (a 32GB SD card can be found at many retailers such as Walmart or Amazon). You also need a computer with an SD card slot or a USB connected card reader to read the data from the card..
