Fall asleep and wake up in an hour with CPAP

Fall asleep and wake up in an hour with CPAP
Im using a CPAP for UARS. Im using a f20 mask. I can comfortably sit there with it on and watch tv. i can even comfortably fall asleep with it. But then in 30 min- hour ill wake up and the process will repeat itself. I just end up taking it off and sleeping so i can get decent sleep.

My doctor set it for 8-15 epr3 with no titration study. I changed my pressure from 9-10 because when it gets higher it becomes harder to breath and i thought this is what was waking up me up.
I also have a slight deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. i take allergy medicine and this does clear my nose some but not entirely. would nasal pillow be better?
Any advice?

To answer your mask question. Personally, I wouldn't use a nasal mask if your nose isn't 100%: you likely need your mouth to breathe, and taping it shut might be a bad idea.

FWIW I had a septoplasty after being on CPAP and noticing my nose wasn't working correctly. The surgery helped me most with general living rather than specifically CPAP treatment. I currently use a hybrid mask.

In fact, if you'd like to get off the F20, you could try a hybrid, which is like pillows under the nose, plus mouth coverage.

RE: Fall asleep and wake up in an hour with CPAP
This sounds like me when I first started. I did fine during my daytime mask practice, but I could not sleep with it for any length of time. I finally started listening to an audiobook in bed at night. It was not great sleep listening to a book and dozing off, but it was some sleep. Eventually my brain decided it was OK to sleep with the mask on, and I no longer needed the book. I have used the iSleep Easy app countdown to sleep for years. I went back to that and now only use that, not the book. Might be worth a try.

RE: Fall asleep and wake up in an hour with CPAP
Hi,

Your charts and your doctor's settings look like mine when i was using the Aire10 (APAP 6/13) for over 3 years. Last year at the beginning of the year, i began waking up almost every 90 minutes and couldn't get back to sleep. I started having panic attacks and these got worse until i eventually spiralled and had to call an ambulance. I had begun to experience a "worsening" (or what i perceived to be a worsening) of a subtle "flutter" in my chest, which i speculated was cardiac in nature. This had happened to me before, in 2006 and I had it very thoroughly investigated. Cardiologists and doctors couldn't find a cause and eventually one doctor gave me Propranalol 120 mg/day for the anxiety (a Cardiologist sent me to the Psychiatirst).

So i am suspecting you might be experiencing something else that is waking you up abruptly; hopefully it's anxiety.

I found Clonazepam (originally prescribed 3 mg a day) helps a great deal; but it is extremely difficult to get off it since it creates intense addictive cravings. I am curr
