First night, few questions
Thanks to start out with for answering some basic questions.
Last night I did the first night on my ResMed S8 AutoSet II CPAP and the Comfort Gel Full Face Mask. I spent most the day reading about it and cleaning it and making sure the mask fit well. It seems it was a fairly good night as I believe I slept a good 6 + hours without waking up much.
Could someone clarify these numbers. I understand some but just want to be sure on all: Results:
efficey data
Press 9.0
Leak 0.08L/s
AHI 3.3
AI .07
HI 2.6
6.29 hours
Thank you.
By the way it did come with the data stick card and I have the software but not sure how to get that data stick to read in my computer.
RE: First night, few questions
G'day Tom
For a first night those numbers look pretty good.
Press 9 - This would be your set pressure, 9 cm H2O
Leak 0.08L/sec. On Resmed machines, leaks should be below 24 litres/minute. I don't know if the S8 reports it as L/sec, but I'm pretty sure it should be L/min.
AHI 3.3. This is your apnea / hypopnea index, which is the average of all events divided by the number of hours of treatment. Below 5 is regarded as treated, though generally we try to get it as low as possible.
AI 0.7. This is the average of apneas per hour of treatment
HI 2.6. This is the average of hypopneas per hour of treatment. You will note that AI + HI = AHI
6.9 hours is self-explanatory. For a first night this is pretty darn good.
The memory card from the S8 requires a proprietary card reader. You might be able to find one on Ebay, or maybe by checking with the online DMEs.
Hope this helps
Paul

Congratulations on a very good first night!

RE: First night, few questions
Way to go TomfromTexas. AHI below 5 is considered treated and you are under that. It will get better with time, getting used to it and fine tuning your settings.
APNEABOARD - A great place to be if you're a hosehead!!

EVERY ACCOMPLISHMENT BEGINS WITH THE DECISION TO TRY!
