Full Face Mask Questions
Hi everyone -
I started on a CPAP machine about 5 months ago, and when I started, I was on an N20 mask. I really liked this mask, but I have terrible allergies, and when the nose completely plugged up, it didn't work. I was then set up on a F40 mask. It worked fine, but it really hurt the underside of the bridge (middle cartilage section, not sure what it's called?) of my nose. The clinician then moved me to a F20, which was much better - but I'm a side sleeper, and the tube pops out of the elbow when I move... which ends up happening a couple times a night, which wakes me up and forces me to fix it before I return to sleep.
So I've got all these masks I've tried, and I'm using the N20 most nights, and the F40 when allergies attack - but I'm wondering... does anyone know of a full face mask that covers the mouth and nose (instead of abutting the nose like a F30/40) - but also has an extension tube to attach the hose to prevent it from popping out?
I appreciate the advice if you've got any. Thanks!
Chris

I had the same problem with the F40. I use some Hypafix tape in that area and it solves the problem. I love that mask.

Maybe it would help if you used a hose holder to hold the hose up away from the machine so that the hose can come down in front of you. Then when you move around the hose won't pop off. Amazon sells lots of different ones. I use one and like how it holds the hose up and out of my way.

RE: Full Face Mask Questions
I'm a side sleeper and a die-hard mouth breather. I have an F20, an F30, and an F40 FFM. These are the only three masks I've ever tried.
A big +1 on using a hose holder / hanger! Initially I went about 2-3 weeks before I decided to make my own hose holder. After that, everything changed for the better. Hose "management" is imperative when it comes to CPAP.
There are many available in varying configurations. I'm sure that some will be along shortly and recommend this or that one.
No way would I ever try and go back to NOT using one.

I think I’ll give this hose holder a shot, especially for nights I need to use a full face mask. That’ll let me use a F20.
Thanks everyone!
