CPAP Settings Support
Hello everyone,

I am new to the CPAP community and have a Resmed Airsense 11 that I have been running on Autoset 4 - 14 cm H20.  I wake up every single night after 4ish hours and it is not to go to the bathroom.  I am wondering if there is something happening with the CPAP therapy that could be adjusted to help me get to a full night of sleep.

Background - I am a 49 YO male that had mild sleep apnea 13.8 AHI at my sleep study and I snore without the machine.  I have been one to get up sometimes in the middle of the night but was hoping the CPAP would help with my sleep, my snoring and decrease the middle of the night wakeups.  I definitely feel more rested and snoring is non-existant (thanks Alexa for confirming). Last is getting a full nights sleep.

Here are a few pics of the last 3 nights using the CPAP.  As you will see I don't get a full 7 to 8 hours.  First was 4 hours, then 3.5 hours and then 5.  Would love to have some thoughts on settings to try to improve my ability to get a full nights sleep.

RE: CPAP Settings Support
If you made three changes, you would probably sleep more comfortably and have better therapy.

1.  Raise your low pressure setting to 7.
2.  Raise your EPR setting to 3.
3.  Drop ramp altogether.

You are having wonderfully low AHIs.  Congratulations!  As to your hours, it is not unusual for a person new to pap use to not sleep as long as they might want to.  Your body and brain are adjusting to having a foreign object stuck to your face, dealing with the tubes, and having air blown up your nose.  Give yourself time.  You are doing great for a new user!

Hi Deborah.  Thanks for the thoughts.  I tried them last night and it went okay.  It feels like too much pressure at first to go from 0 to 7 so I am going to use the ramp to get me to 4 until I fall asleep.  I am hoping that will work as I had a hard time falling asleep last night and when I did wake up I didn't want to put the mask back on.

Might be too much change at once so I am going to try this and see.

You could drop your beginning pressure to 5 or 6 and see how that goes, then gradually increase if you can.
