Simple case of a faulty socket. It could be a fire hazard. If you're the least bit handy you can replace it yourself, but otherwise get a qualified electrician to do it ASAP.

I bought a AirCurve 10 a couple years ago that was noisy. Took it back to the DME and he pulled a new one out of the box for comparison. It made the same noise.

I went with a different DME and bought a new one awhile later. Whisper quiet. I bought a second hand one a few months ago and it is also whisper quiet.

Of course, there is still a bit of noise. We have a sound machine and an air filter that helps us sleep and also mask what little noise we get from the CPAP and from the mask.

Thanks, Sleepster!

How wild that you encountered all those variations in sound between machines!

I use a white noise machine, too, but this little whistle sound was an irritating higher pitch.  It seemed to be transmitted from the interior of the Airsense 11 through the hose and mask, such that earplugs didn't help, either.
