Gum dryness now damage

Gum dryness now damage
I've used bipap for about 12 years and when I went for another dental implant this time after the small incision the gum tissue literally fell away from the jawbone and is going to take a long time to heal and might need a surgical intervention if it does not.  I tried switching to a nasal mask but am a mouth breather and leak rates average 50% for 95% of the time.  I videotaped myself and mouth is open all night and arouse frequently all night.  Tried 2 different chin straps that did not work, unable to tolerate a cervical collar tho use a travel neck pillow and sleep in a zero gravity position because of other issues.  Mouth taping causes panic.  So, I will see sleep PA for advice soon and may try the amara view full face mask again but really could not keep that on all night either.  Pressures are set at 6 to 15.   I wondered how high the humidity can be set safely on remed aircurve 10? Not even sure if that would be good or bad for the gums healing and feel like I am between a rock and hard place.  I wonder if after 12 years would a repeat sleep study tell me anything new, thanks anyone for any insights or recommendations

If you download Oscar (the update to Sleepyhead) and post some charts we could better help you.  We need to see data to offer meaningful advice.  Recently a lot of people have been trying a new full face mask, the ResMed F40.  Lots of people seem to like it.

Good luck! Smile

Have you been examined by a ENT? Is some kind of obstruction that prohibits you from breathing through your nose?

Sue60 , Do you get dry mouth because of mouth breathing?

Here is what I have gone through, hope it helps.

I am a mouth breather also and I have  same problem Because of that my gums are bad.

My mouth would get absolutely bone dry if I  sleep on my back. It was slightly improved if I tipped my head back a little. A proper pillow will help this.  A soft cervical might help but it did not for me. I can not avoid sleeping on my back. Because of all my aches and pain I sleep in whatever position my body wants. That means I rotate my position as tolerated.

I use a F30 face mask which is similar to the Amara view. Personally, If you are a mouth breather and use a full face mask, I  do not believe it matters what the make is.

I  have tried chin straps which did not help. I even made my own which was tighter than the others which did not help.

A soft cervical collar did not help.

Extremely high humidity did not help.

I tried mouth taping which I despise and will not use again.

I have been to a ENT and I do have some blockage but he does not seem to think that it matters.

I have tried breath right strips.

The best solution that  I have come up with are xylimelts and biotene mouth solution. Before bed I swish my mouth with biotene and apply a xylimelt to my gums. The xylimelts only last for 4 to five hours and often I  wake up in the middle of the night for another treatment. This has taken care of a bone dry mouth instead  it is pasty but it least it is moisture.

From a safety perspective, you can use the maximum humidity setting without any problem. I used it like that and controlled the water condensation in the hose by using high hose temperatures, 28-30C.
Furthermore, there is no problem when water condenses in the mask. I use my current device under such conditions to mitigate the dryness of my nose's membranes.

I recommend the Hyaluronic acid-containing nasal spray (HylaMist for dry nose) I have been using successfully. If it is suggested as nasal, it would not hurt your gum either.
" Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, making it one of the best-known moisturizers."
